I Love Mark Steyn–Obama’s False Choice

March 28, 2009

I do love Mark Steyn and his delighful ability to entertain me whilst (couldn’t resist) trudging through facts and minutia as we must to understand HRO’s double-speak, economic gobledigook and OSBS (see yesterdya’s post). He furthers his clairfication today from NRO.

Obama’s False Choice
A “chaotic and unforgiving capitalism” is exactly what we need right now.

By Mark Steyn

Writing in the Chicago Tribune last week, President Obama fell back on one of his favorite rhetorical tics: “But I also know,” he wrote, “that we need not choose between a chaotic and unforgiving capitalism and an oppressive government-run economy. That is a false choice that will not serve our people or any people.”

Really? For the moment, it’s a “false choice” mainly in the sense that he’s not offering it: “a chaotic and unforgiving capitalism” is not on the menu, which leaves “an oppressive government-run economy” as pretty much the only game in town. How oppressive is yet to be determined: To be sure, the official position remains that only “the richest five percent” will have taxes increased. But you’ll be surprised at the percentage of Americans who wind up in the richest five percent. This year federal government spending will rise to 28.5 per cent of GDP, the highest level ever, with the exception of the peak of the Second World War. The 44th president is proposing to add more to the national debt than the first 43 presidents combined, doubling it in the next six years, and tripling it within the decade. But to talk about it in percentages of this and trillions of that misses the point. It’s not about bookkeeping, it’s about government annexation of the economy, and thus of life: government supervision, government regulation, government control. No matter how small your small business is — plumbing, hairdressing, maple sugaring — the state will be burdening you with more permits, more paperwork, more bureaucracy.

And don’t plan on moving. Ahead of this week’s G20 summit in London, Timothy Geithner, America’s beloved Toxic Asset, (more…)

Wildebeest Care is the Key to Economic Recovery!

March 6, 2009

Centered by the ever-present bronze-tinted, but opaque teleprompters (whispers among the White House Residential Staff say that before joining Michelle in bed each night, the TPs–as they call them–are arranged on either side of the Presidential bed’s headboard with a script running to the effect, “Yeah, baby! Yeah, Momma; Daddy’s got yo’ back and I cannot lie!” and “The Big O’s a gonna fix it right!”–there has been no video to confirm this, unfortunately, but keep watching to YouTube, you never know) and flanked by his Minister of Propaganda; the Secretary of the Interior, amazingly the only nominee that had paid his taxes, but expects to recoup that money through the Indian Affairs and Casinos Department; and Wildebeest Czar, Jim Folwer, the anaconda-wrestling, geriatric right-hand man, sidekick, schlub and patsy to Marlin Perkins on Wild Kingdom, President (Transparency and No Earmarks) Obama addressed the ever-so-important National Wildlife Reform Forum yesterday.

After introductions and the wait for the teleprompters to warm up, he prefaced (reading from said devices) the need for the forum with, “By a wide margin, the biggest threat to our nation’s balance sheet is the skyrocketing cost of Wildebeest care–it’s not even close.  If we want to create jobs and rebuild our economy, and get our federal budget under control, then we have to address the crushing cost of Wildebeest care this year, in this administration.” And finally, he expressed the direness of emergency, “The cost of Wildebeest care now causes a  bankruptcy in America every thirty seconds.” Gosh, who gnu?

When confronted by a reporter, that Wildebeests are not native to the United States or the Western hemisphere for that matter, and pretty much restricted to the African continent and almost exclusively to the Serengeti, and asked for the research regarding the statistics on bankruptcies caused by Gnu Care, the effervescent and bouncy, Christina Romer of the Council of Economic Czars and Rasputins (doesn’t she remind you of your old Bozo Bop Bag, the punching ballon from your childhood, or a Russian Nested Doll that you want to un-nest to see if she just disappears), she bounced and giggled, “I’m gonna [sic] to have to  check the numbers for you; I think the important thing is the idea is absolutely true.”

So, now we have another (one) expressly derived reason and cause of the Economic Crisis and the KEY to recovery–fix Wildebeest Care!

In reality, he was centered between the ever-present teleprompters, and we’re still awaiting the video evidence regarding the WH Bedroom rumors, and flanked by his minions, but Dear Leader was speaking before the Health Care Forum and indeed The Key to recovery was fixing health care.

“By a wide margin, the biggest threat to our nations balance sheet is the skyrocketing cost of health care; it’s not even close.” Followed by, “If we want to create jobs and rebuild our economy, and get our federal budget under control, then we have to address the crushing cost of health care this year in this administration.” and “The cost of health care now causes a  bankruptcy in America Every thirty seconds.”

I Want a Divorce from the Liberals, Leftists, Socialists…

February 19, 2009

As we all do, I receive a variety of political eMails, most of which we read and sometimes pass along as we agree , find poignant or funny; some we just read and do nothing with them. This one I feel worthy of posting, whether  John J. Wall really exists or not. Thanks to Jerry S. for passing along to me.

To: All American liberals, leftists, social  progressives, socialists, Marxists, and Obama supporters, et al.

From:   John J. Wall – a Conservative  American

 Dear Liberals, Leftists,  and Socialists:

We’ve stuck  together since the late 1950’s, but the latest  election  process and your bailout stimulus plan has made me  realize that I want  a divorce.

Although we’ve tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, the sad truth is that the relationship between conservatives and liberals has run its course.

Our two ideological sides of America can not and will not ever agree on what is right. Therefore, let’s just end it on friendly terms. You go your way, and I’ll go mine.

We can smile, chalk it up to irreconcilable differences, shake hands, and go our own way. But to do that, we’ll need a “Separation Agreement.” I have drawn one up. I hope you agree with it.

 SEPARATION AGREEMENT  PROPOSAL

I propose that our two  groups – Conservatives and Liberals  –  equitably divide up the country by  land-mass, each of us taking approximately  50% of the total square miles. I’ll concede that this is the most difficult part of the separation agreement, but I’m sure our two sides can come to terms.

After that’s done, the rest should be relatively easy!   Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes.

For example, we conservatives don’t like redistributive taxes, so you can keep them! They’re all yours!

You are also welcome to take the liberal judges, the ACLU, the affirmative action crowd, the NAACP, and the National Organization of Women.  We don’t want any of them.

We also don’t want Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. You can have them.

Since you hate guns and war, we’ll take the firearms, the cops, the NRA, and the military, that you hate so much.

Along with Pelosi and Reid, you can also have Oprah, Michael Moore, (Oliver and Sharon) Stone, and Rosie O’Donnell. (You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all of them).

We’ll take the capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies,  Wal-Mart, McDonald’s, and Wall  Street.

You can have your beloved homeboys, hippies, and illegal aliens.   We’ll take the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO’s, and rednecks.

I Love VDH–Victor Davis Hanson

February 17, 2009

I Love Victor Davis Hanson–he can cut to the chase and lay it out so much better than most of the others that only try to explain what is going on and (to use my mom’s best sayings) “How the cow ate the cabbage.”

The Audacity of Irony
“Hope and change” meet reality. The ironies bring us back to the unlamented days of Jimmy Carter.
By Victor Davis Hanson

We have seen irony before, when the moralist Jimmy Carter chastised us with sermons about our paranoid, inordinate fear of Communism and our amoral unconcern with human rights, even as the dividends of his policies were the Soviets in Afghanistan and the Ayatollah Khomeini in Iran — and even greater global misery than before.

For the last 24 months a youthful Barack Obama has daily offered unspecified “hope and change” idealism — all set against the supposed cynical wrongdoing of the tired Bush administration. In the unhinged manner in which his supporters turned a center-right president like George Bush into some sort of sinister reactionary, so too they deified a rookie senator as the long-awaited liberal messiah.

How could irony not follow from all that?

For the past seven years the United States has seen no repeat of 9/11, although plots were uncovered and threats from radical Islam were leveled in serial fashion. The ability to intercept and hold terrorists overseas, to tap into cell-phone calls abroad, to detain terrorists caught on the field of battle, and to ensure that intelligence agencies freely swapped information was critical to our unexpected salvation.

Like Lincoln, Wilson, FDR, Truman, and other wartime presidents (though none of the above witnessed 3,000 Americans butchered on the soil of the United States by foreign agents), George Bush, with strong bipartisan support, enacted new wartime protocols in the effort to protect the security of the United States. Only a fool would suggest that these homeland-security efforts were unnecessary, or that, in unprecedented fashion, they shredded the Constitution.

Do You REALLY Know what this Bill means?

February 10, 2009

Holy Crap!  I don’t even know where to start this!

Let me try this, The Democrats are doing what we’ve fought against forever–they’re getting their Socialized Health Care through the Back Door of the Stimulus Bill.

Buried deep in the hard-to-read Bill, of course intentially, is the Nationalization – and rationing – of health care is in the stimulus bill!Betsy McCaughy of Bloomberg has brought the alert out yesterday.

The bill’s health rules will affect “every individual in the United States” (445, 454, 479). Your medical treatments will be tracked electronically by a federal system. Having electronic medical records at your fingertips, easily transferred to a hospital, is beneficial. It will help avoid duplicate tests and errors.

But the bill goes further. One new bureaucracy, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and “guide” your doctor’s decisions (442, 446). These provisions in the stimulus bill are virtually identical to what Daschle prescribed in his 2008 book, “Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis.” According to Daschle, doctors have to give up autonomy and “learn to operate less like solo practitioners.”

Keeping doctors informed of the newest medical findings is important, but enforcing uniformity goes too far.

So, folks, if you’re a “boomer” or older, you’re going die a whole sooner than you were just weeks ago. GOT IT?! If you have health issues, diabetes, high blood pressure, degenerative bone or muscle disease, you smoke, eat meat, drink too much, you are going to be shit-out-of-luck, sorry no sugar coating, cutesie-wutesie spelling–plain and simple–We Are Screwed!

They are taking this one step further than even the Canadian Health Care System or Euro-Social Health Care, etc.–they are grading your life automatically via electronic records that the “state” will look at, as this Program does.  They are going to electronically input your health data, then electronically sort the data and give you a Health Grade, this in turn will determine where you will be in line for your needs or issues. If your Grade is low, then you wait, if it’s high (you’re 30, run 5 miles a day, don’t smoke, a vegan and  only drink recycled pee-water in a refillable bio-degradable bottle), then you go to the front of the line.

Now, we won’t have the opportunity the rest of the world that have similar free or socialized medicine/health care have today, which is to come to the U.S. to get the Health care when they can’t get it at home. They won’t come here anymore AND we won’t have anywhere to go.

The Democratic Cowards know that this would not pass stand alone as a Program Bill so they stuck in the Stimulus Bill hoping no one would notice.

I sent out Ten eMails to Senators (including Snowe & Collins, the RINOS that are helping to pass this bill along with Specter) last night about this, you should do the same to your Senators, your Congress reps and everyone that will listen. Here is the Senate member Link:  Senate Home,  just either select your state or the Senator’s name you want to contact.  Do it NOW!

Even FoxNews is talking about it now & Drudge had it this morning (it wasn’t there last evening).

Read the Bloomberg article and stop this Bill–it is not in our best or healthy interest–it certainly isn’t stimulus!

UPDATE:Arlen Specter (Rino, PA) was just on FNC with Megan Kelley and clarilied–yes, clari-LIED, his way through the segment and said he’d not take back his commitment to vote for the Bill! He tried to say that he wouldn’t let it “broaden” any further, but that means he’s okay with how it reads now!  He’s a Lying-Sack-of-Shit RINO bastard. Contact your Senators, including Snowe & Collins–I said in my eMail last night that Specer was worthless, and he’s just confirmed it if you didn’t know it before. As Worf would say, ‘He’s a waste of Skin.’

UPDATE 2:FoxNews followed up (fair & balanced, ya’know) with  Sen. John Tester(Demon-crat, MT) used words like: “If” , “I’m not sure”, & “I think”–finally, “If it’s in there, we’ll get it out, but it should take us to 21st century health care.” AND, “It’s putting people back to work.” Holy Crap (again)! Geez, folks they’re voting for this in an hour & a half at 11AM CST!   BTW, I just took my BP which is usually considered normal/good at around 120/80–it was 142/90–guess I’m doomed under this bill!

FINAL UPDATE:Well, it passed with  the same vote count it passed Cloture yesterday, 61-37. The RINOS did it, they sold our souls down the river.  So, now it passes to the conferences to redraft the bill with the House, which means it will be bigger and those things taken out by the RINO negotiations will go back in. $838Billion will probably go back and over $900B.

Welcome to Socialism, folks, I hope those that wanted it enjoy it and those of us that didn’t know that we must stand up and fight anyway we can to stop what has been passed. Do not agree to allowing your life to be controlled by the  “State”.
